President’s message October 2012

An update for all of our members on some activity I am working on as your president.  Some of you have already received an e-mail from me in an effort to reach all of our 456 members.  I am almost half way through the list and have had a few responses.  The next step will be to do a survey to also reach out to all of our members.  I  believe we can do some things different to increase involvement.  Julie Mower, your president elect,  and I are committed to doing this.  We know it will be an effort than spans more than one  year so I will continue to work with Julie as past president.  If any of you are interested in working with us please let me know.

I know it is just approaching November but it is already time to think about who will run for office in the spring.  Please consider serving the chapter in 2013-2014.  The nominating committee will be in touch with you but it is so nice when volunteer.

I am also working on obtaining a conference call number that we can use every month so you will always have the number when you cannot attend in person.  Watch for this to be posted before the next meeting.

We held our joint workshop October 19 and we feel it was quite successful; especially considering our problem in securing a location.  We had 30 Healthcare representatives and 66 attendees.

Our next event is to educate the public about our important role as perioperative nurses.  This will be held November 10th at the Museum of Nature and Science.  I feel this is one of the really fun things we do as a chapter is a great way to serve.

it is a pleasure working with the Denver chapter and I look forward to seeing many of you at our next meeting.
