Project C.U.R.E.
Throughout the years, DAORN members have repeatedly volunteered with Project C.U.R.E., sorting and preparing medical supplies for dissemination throughout the developing world. We have had the fortune to have one of our very own perioperative nurses run the organization. Although she has since retired, we continue supporting Project C.U.R.E. at their warehouse in Centennial, both through monetary donations and giving our time. As the pictures prove – we always have fun!
We have a standing volunteer opportunity at the warehouse, since Jim Stobinski serves as a team leader every Thursday of the month, from 1:00-3:00 PM. If you wish to get involved and are new to Project C.U.R.E., please create a volunteer account, which will allow you to sign in and out at the warehouse, and keep track of your hours.
Due to current COVID restrictions, only a limited number of volunteers have access to the warehouse. Please let Jim know in advance (jstobinski at cc-institute.org) if you are planning on working with him that day.
Any future group events will be announced separately under the tab Upcoming Events, as they become available.
Living Well Showers
DAORN embarked on a new community outreach program in 2019, encouraging chapter members to support the homeless population in the Denver metro area. We partnered with Living Well Showers, assisting with their outreach efforts by providing weekly mobile showers. Chapter members could sign up individually to participate in one or more events.
Living Well Showers is a project organized by the Bethlehem Lutheran Church & School and has been featured in multiple news outlets. With no expiration date on our involvement, members are welcome to continue volunteering their time, as soon as COVID restrictions allow. For any additional information and to join the volunteer list, they can be reached at livingwell@bethlehemdenver.com.
